A certificate is valuable only when its purpose is understood. Angelite presents the facts available for each stone — identity, weight, treatment and origin conclusions where supported — without turning a laboratory opinion into a promise it cannot make.
Applicable gemstones are accompanied by an independent report or a report number that can be requested before dispatch. Listings also state known treatments. If further testing is important to your decision, our team can arrange it before purchase.

What a certificate can tell you
Wording differs between laboratories, but a responsible report normally records the following information.
Measurements
Weight, dimensions, shape and cutting style used to match the document to the physical stone.
Treatment
Whether evidence of heat or another detectable enhancement was observed during examination.
Origin opinion
A geographic conclusion when the data supports one — or an inconclusive result when it does not.
Report number
A unique reference used to verify the document with the issuing laboratory where online checks exist.
Comments
Relevant observations such as colour terminology, special phenomena or limits to the conclusion.
Origin determination
How a laboratory considers Ceylon origin
Sri Lankan sapphires may show internal features such as long rutile needles, healed fissures and mineral inclusions. Laboratories combine microscopic examination with spectroscopy and trace-element chemistry, then compare the results with documented reference stones.
Origin is an expert opinion, not a visual guess. Characteristics from Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Myanmar and other metamorphic deposits can overlap. A respected laboratory may therefore decline to assign a country when the evidence is insufficient — an honest limitation, not a defect in the stone.

Treatment disclosure
Natural does not always mean untreated
Treatment status can materially affect rarity, price and care. It belongs in the buying conversation.
No evidence of heating
A laboratory found no detectable evidence of heat treatment. Fine unheated stones may command a premium, especially with strong colour and documented origin.
Heated
Traditional heating can improve colour or clarity and is widely accepted in the trade when disclosed. A heated sapphire can still be natural, beautiful and durable.
Other enhancements
Diffusion, fracture filling and other processes require specific disclosure and may affect value or care. We do not substitute vague language for a known treatment.

Ask about a certificateDoes every gemstone include a laboratory report?
No. Independent reports are supplied where stated on the product listing. For other stones, you may request additional testing before purchase at an agreed cost and lead time.
Is a gemmological report the same as a valuation?
No. A laboratory report describes the gemstone and any conclusions the laboratory can support. It does not normally state a retail value or guarantee future market performance.
Can a laboratory always determine geographic origin?
Not always. Laboratories compare inclusions, spectroscopy and trace-element chemistry with reference material, but overlapping characteristics can make some stones inconclusive.
What does “unheated” mean?
It means the laboratory found no evidence that heat was used to alter the gemstone. Unheated status should only be claimed when supported by appropriate documentation.
